How It All Started…
My quilting journey began over a decade ago, thanks to my mom and her contagious enthusiasm for quilting. She introduced me to the basics, and it didn't take long before I was hooked! What started as a hobby quickly became my creative escape, a source of joy, and something special that my mom and I could share. Over the years, we've enjoyed countless quilt shop adventures, shared plenty of laughs, and made some wonderful memories along the way.
The Beginning of The Monthly Stitch
The idea for The Monthly Stitch started in the fall of 2021, but the inspiration came a year earlier.
From October 2020 through September 2021, I challenged myself to make a different seasonal pillow cover each month for family and friends. I loved coming up with new designs and sharing a little handmade happiness throughout the year.
When that year came to an end, I wasn't ready to stop! I thought, why not keep the monthly tradition going, but expand beyond pillow covers?
And just like that, The Monthly Stitch was born!
Over the years, my monthly projects have included table runners, placemats, hexagon table toppers, wall hangings, and more. Each year brings a new theme, fresh ideas, and plenty of opportunities to try something different.
From a Hobby to a Growing Business
In March 2023, I took another big step and purchased my longarm quilting machine. What a game changer!
Longarm quilting opened the door to helping other quilters finish their beautiful projects, and it quickly became one of my favorite parts of the business. There's something incredibly rewarding about taking a quilt top that someone has poured their heart into and helping bring it across the finish line.
Since then, The Monthly Stitch has continued to grow. Along with my handmade creations, I now offer longarm quilting, custom T-shirt and memory quilts, and sewing machine cleaning services.
What started as a creative outlet has turned into something bigger than I ever imagined!
A Dream Come True — Our Very Own Quilt Shop!
And now, in October 2026, another dream is becoming a reality!
The Monthly Stitch has a new home in downtown Dodgeville, Wisconsin!
Located downstairs inside BPA Boutique at 141 N. Iowa Street, my little quilt shop is filled with fabric, patterns, kits, quilting supplies, handmade items, and, of course, plenty of inspiration for your next project.
Whether you're an experienced quilter, just getting started, or simply love handmade treasures, I hope you'll find something that makes you smile.
I'm especially excited to have a space where fellow quilters can gather, share ideas, learn something new, and enjoy the creativity and friendships that make quilting so special.
The Best Part Is Yet to Come!
If there's one thing I've learned on this journey, it's that you never know where a simple idea might lead.
What began with a sewing machine, some fabric, and a little encouragement from my mom has grown into a business and now a quilt shop of my very own.
And the best part? I'm still learning, creating, and dreaming up what comes next.
